Its pretty impressive what they can do with very little.
An after market part factory, I hope they don't produce Land Rover parts!
Note the foot wear and they're working with molten metal. some even don't wear the safety sandels and prefer bare feet.

Wild guessing.... that molten spillages and handling events are... minimal.
Note the lathe, Indian nameplate suggests 'Made in INDIA' - (Where my microscope is made)
Can we name any currently manufactured AUSTRALIAN-- built lathes of that size ? Any size ??
Fascinating ! Thanks.
Edit: Anyone else noticed how clean they keep their clothes ? - despite the pace of work, only a few spots on the blue kurta.
The supervisor looks rich enough to afford genuine safety boots. - similar style to mine, also made in India. - Quite comfortable too.
I note that the lathe is Export Quality so it must be good.....

I didn't see any blue bags anywhere so clearly a step above.
Actually it is impressive what they can achieved with basic machinery. As for safety, that is for the privileged.

If you're into wood turning as I am, Australian made (Clontarf, Queensland) VICMARC lathes are recognized as being among the best quality lathes anywhere in the world.
Unfortunately - I only have a Chinese made "basic" lathe which has given me some minor grief, but is probably good enough for my skill level.![]()

It's always fascinating to watch these sub-continental factory processes; pretty much what would have been done in Europe two hundred years ago but with the odd 'modern' adaptation. For example, the blokes doing the sand moulding are using sand mixed with sodium silicate and then blowing CO2 through the finished mould to set the sand hard. I shudder to think of where the finished articles end up and I try to be mindful of this when I buy aftermarket parts. Quality control is virtually nil. Also we whine about the constricting nature of OH&S legislation but the level of deaths and maimings in these places must be phenomenal, let alone the exposure-related illnesses. The religions that underpin their culture do not elevate human life above the donkey that pulls their cart.
