Acronym when initialism is meant.
Stationary vs stationery.
Humbled vs honoured - why do award recipients say they're "humbled"? It's damn near rude to say you feel lesser or diminished because they get recognition.
And lately ventilate instead of vent, most recently during the Lehrmann trial when Higgins said she called her boyfriend to "ventilate".

Word of the moment, "vunerable" instead of "vulnerable".
Worst of all, in many newspapers and news stories, "One in five Australians are........." !!!!!!!!!!
Similarly "None are......."
Does no one understand the difference between singular and plural.

'sit bonum tempora volvunt'
I guess that like most linguistic abominations that the following one originated in the USA.
It seems some people are unaware of the fact that fractions exist, so they insist on using multiples when making comparisons.
They say that a 25 year old is twice as young as a 50 year old. Surely they are half as old.
They say that a carbon fibre kayak is twice as light as a fibreglass kayak. Surely it is half the weight.
The version using multiples doesn't make sense mathematically. They say product A is three times cheaper than product B. So if product B costs $10, three times $10 is $30. How can product A cost $30 less than $10?

Collective nouns can be a bit complicated. There are times when the focus is on the individuals who make up the group.
It would be correct to say that the team are all wearing different coloured socks.
There is an explanation as well as a couple of better examples here:

However, a lot of times your criticism is justified.

There is one that I have heard repeatedly that stops me in my tracks every time...one team is 'versing' another. I first heard this with my daughter's under 12 netball team; "Who are we versing this week?". It has since made it's way into the vernacular.
