Bear is still around, although has some other mechanical woes at the moment.

Unfortunately life gets in the way and he hasn’t finished the work (and I haven’t any time off to go help).

Several of us enjoyed the resource when building / understanding vehicles. Others enjoyed sharing knowledge etc.

Sometimes it comes to a close or is no longer needed.

Whilst social of sorts, getting out there is much more fun!

Nowadays I get very little value from D1, D2, D3, D4 tech forums however just added a RRS to the stable so reading/browsing in there. Whilst the tech is the same, it’s a different body etc to work with.

If you just delete all those after Bacicat you could save some time.

I'm still around, and still driving the Mule - very infrequently though.
Workload has doubled, and the region I look after now spans a good part of NSW, so lots of my work time is travelling... puts other things in perspective when thinking about what might be 'fun' to do on a weekend (ie not driving). The passion hasn't died, but it ain't what it used to be either.

Still modding the car. Still loosely documenting it in my build thread, however haven't committed to anything beyond the annual to bi-annual updates. My ****posting level is also down on target... Might have to remedy that
Even 2 years on, I'm still on the fence about doing something special to the axles, after busting both of them on the trails at the same time.

Life changes, Facebook is more instant BUT is horrible if you want to lookup something. (Yes you can pin things in a way, but it just isn’t the same)

    Chops still has his D4 (and a “88 S2A)

Bytemark sold his white D4 - and bought a red D4 and a caravan.

LandyAndy I believe is very active on FB.

I know of a few members (active) that recently said to me “I might no renew when my subscription expires, as the Series section is nowhere as active as it used to be”. Which would be a pity - but that’s their choice.

I am not as active as I used to be - even though I own 8 different LR products. Life gets in the way unfortunately.

I have tried to sell some things via AULRO - but have never sold anything. I have sold 50+ items on Facebook (LR parts). Although there are far more idiots/scammers on FB - it is a wider audience. It “is what it is” - it’s nobody’s fault.

Whenever I meet a new LR owner I point them towards this great forum. I drive the only new Defender in the world with an AULRO tyre cover on it (I believe - it came off my 101).

There are hundreds of people on the AULRO facebook page who don’t even know that this forum exists.. Maybe it’s a younger generation/FB thing…

I'm in the same boat, the Series section is very quiet and like you I've found that selling or asking 'what's it worth' is almost a waste of time.
Most buying & selling is done off the forum with people that are on the forum or a network of people I keep in personal contact with.

As people live their lives on Facebook nowadays I guess it's easier to be in a Facebook Land Rover group rather than on a forum ? I'm not on Facebook so it's hard for me to understand/comment.

A long time ago Wrinklearthur moved to Facebook and so did Chazza, they were both quite active in the Series section.
Chazza now runs a company producing Series Land Rover parts and operates exclusively on Facebook. He did have a website but shut this down as all his work was coming through Facebook.

I get one of my boys to advertise items for sale on Facebook and apart from the odd person messing me around parts have sold fairly quickly.

Gumtree is going the same way, few Series Land Rovers or parts are advertised. I have managed to sell some items but I don't think people browse Gumtree because they are too busy on Facebook.

It doesn't seem to be age related, it's just that for a large percentage of the population Facebook consumes their life.
