Apparently my last Dental hygienist was a relative of his by marriage. She said he was the most “normal” bloke that absolutely hated being revered as a guitar god but loved to play. He liked to go to the shops and not be recognised.

All hearsay of course, but I can say a relative of Jeff Beck cleaned my teeth.

    Jeff Beck

Of the triumvirate, Clapton, Page and Beck, he was by far the most inventive and had the most technical control of the guitar. He also was a master at a number of styles, blues, jazz, rockabilly et. al.
From recording with Stevie Wonder to the solo on "Blaze Of Glory" with Jon Bon Jovi he covered all bases.
His use of the whammy bar/tremolo arm on his Stratocaster was unparalleled.

His first passion however was restoring vintage hot rods. He would do a music tour to finance the purchase of another car to add to his sizeable livery. When in the Yardbirds he would often turn up for rehearsal in greasy overalls and oily arms having put down the spanners.

A real loss for the guitar world.

This recollection is quite amusing, there are others referring to Beck and Page's reactions in 1967 when B&W guitar met technicolour:
