Shame if he has moved on,he powdercoated a heap of gear for us a good few months ago.Did a great job.
Hard to imagine he can’t make a living off specialty parts for a car last made 7 years ago…

I spoke to Ben in person when I went there and bought my step/sliders for the D3. He put a shed load of work into developing stuff for the D5 when it came out (even owning one for the R&D) but couldn't get an engineer to sign off on anything. It seems the signing engineer is ultimately liable for any ...... liability??? Cost Ben a bucket load of money for no return, says he wasn't going to do the same for the new Defender.
He continued to make stuff for D3/4 for a while but this is not his core business, so I guess it was time to cease. Maybe call him and see if he has anything left.
Next time you post a letter at the post box down the road think of Ben.
There is no eraser on the pencil of life.

Yes mate they did the post box powder coating. From memory Ben did mostly fabrication and his Dad the powder coating side. 2 separate sheds side by side. Ben was a very accomplished welder and a genuinely nice bloke. They powdercoated my mags on the D2 on black and did a great job. I bought rock sliders and rear bar from him. Unfortunately the numbers of D5's sold here are dismal. The Defender did better but is niche and seem to be priced and marketed in a way that doesn't lend itself to owners who are keen to roll down to Container St and buy steel protective gear. Sure some will but most won't. Pitty but emblematic of modern LRs. Cheers
I sent a text to Brad at KLR asking if he knew of this because they buy/bought off APT. I got a reply saying he’d shut the 4WD side down.
I’m not sure what that means. Was he also servicing or working on 4WDs?

Well it seems the bash plate I'm about to sell has trippled in price, it's now limited edition and unobtainable!
