Why dont tradies reply to emails

Hi over the weekend I have decided to get a mobile boat detail to get Mario boat ready to sell. As it is just a bit hard for me due to the size of the boat and I would have to be up and down the ladder.
The boat is 5.5mt long, I emailed two companies on Sunday and I received one email from one on Sunday night and nothing from the others. The boat is in very good nick as Mario would wash it down every time he took it out.
Any way I have given it to the guy that messaged me Sunday night and it is going to cost $70 per hour, so if it take 5 or 6 hours, still cheaper than me falling off the ladder at GREAT height. The boat has been covered all the time except when the cover broke down and was uncovered for a year. This will be the last thing I have to do before getting a skip to throw out the stuff in the garage which I have help from a few friends, who said they will come once I order the skip. Heather

I have no idea Heather I always tried to & found some would actually make contact some weeks later. Why bother? I have found though that if a request is made via on site "fill the boxes" sites, they do seem to take longer, if at all. I needed a quote for some underpinning & it was 5 weeks before she contacted me & this from a Contractor advertised "No Job too Small"

Maybe "note messages" get handed around, people are sick, on leave, left the company the day before, but this brings out another problem of Businesses not updating their websites
So to answer your question ........ "Who Knows why?" I guess a thesis could be composed by some Student to find out why?

I agree about the charges & so what if you can't walk after coming a cropper it was an inexpensive job?

We were always advised to check their Insurance cover details for damage etc, & the last thing you need is having a drawn out bun fight over something.

We contracted a Carpenter some years ago, he did the job, but concealed the fact & certainly didn't mention that he busted an expensive glass lampshade on the front porch with his ladder.

In fact he rotated it so it would not be seen quickly.

Of course he tried to wriggle out of it. ( The old it wasn't me) routine But all it took was a phone call to his Female employer. Job done! I suspected she had trouble with him previously.

Yes I dont know why some bother to have a business. I didnt email them through there contact where you fill in form on there site. I email them direct, as the email show there own name in the address. The one I got was a direct to him. Thats why I think I got the reply so fast, he must have checked his emails. I know we also answer emails when they come in even on the weekend, and then we get a reply saying that they didnt expect a reply on the weekend. I know some wont but being a car for parts is pretty urgent. Heather

I think a phone call is better.

Heather, put the boat on here for sale. If it suited you and Mario, it may well suit someone on here. And many of the people on here are pragmatic enough not to need something tarted up for sale. If the boat is in good condition, the new owner can sort out the cosmetics.

But but but, if you ring their Mobile it can still finish up in the dead end "Basket"

I'm sure many mean to ring when they are home for the day but then they get bogged down having a beer with a mate that just called in, or many other requests.

Then it goes clean out of their head like when one gets to 87.

Yes I might put it up here later when it is done, it just need a good clean inside as there is still some of Mario's fishing gear in like his 'hand lines etc, and the seat need a clean they not split or anything, and the canopy needs a clean and windows. I am just fussy about how I present things for sale, as Mario keep all his stuff in good nick. It is just a shame Mario didnt get the full use of it after he bought a new Mercury 90 motor. I think it has less than 50 hrs on the clock.
