50C in Ramadan was always interesting because the Muslim workers wouldn't drink during the day, so they'd die of dehydration on the building sites.

That shows just how much they believe Religion exceeds Personal health & well-being.

Can't have one without the other it appears. I suppose the Site Manager is Muslim as well.

Even if it is half broken and temps get up to 26 or so degrees, they want to go home, where it is probably warmer.
I remember the AC broke one summer in the office I was working in, out in Sydney's west.
Management allowed a slackened dress code of shorts and no tie (shock horror!) but it wasn't until it got to 36C inside the office and one particularly overweight, hirsute gentleman threatened to sit outside the managers (glass fronted) office in just his boxer shorts that they finally got it fixed How hot is too hot.

Popular Scince states "July 2023 was likely the hottest month in 120,000 years"

Yahoo weather suggests its is very consistent - VERY HOT

    Edit- Concrete jungles.

Apparently above is at 5pm on a 38-degree day. 40 on the Grass and 65 on the asphalt- Ouch

How concrete, asphalt and urban heat islands add to the misery of heat waves (reuters.com)
I call bs, they were temps we expected the there.

It'd take several good pints of "heavy" for me to explain how much that is so. The term is "inshallah", or "it's in Allah's hands" / "It's gods will" and it's used in everything from "he wiped out his entire family" through to "I might be on time for the meeting".

Things like 200 series Landcruisers with supercharged V8's and sand balloon tyres doing 200 KPH+ with 8 kids in the back, one of the wives in the passenger seat and the 2 year old crawling on the dashboard. When they fail to make the corner and the car peels open like a sardine tin on the Armco and they all die it's "Allah's will".

Turns out Allah isn't a great co-pilot or driver. The stories I could tell, and I was only there 6 years.

It's interesting how you adapt though. I could walk down the main drag on a 40C day in a suit and tie and not sweat. The first year I was there I bought one of those "Compass / Thermometer" things for my car. The thermometer went as far as 70C, and the day I went to a meeting and got in the car to see it off the end of the dial I chucked it out. Some things you just don't want to know.

It took me a good 3 years back in Perth before I wasn't wearing long sleeves for 9 months of the year.

    It ain’t got hot yet.

According to the info gained from places like the Ice Drill in Greenland and the Peat Bog research in Britain, the mean average temperature for the globe for the last 10,000 years, is nearly 2.5 degrees hotter then what it is now.

Also note, it was hotter when the Romans ruled the known world, and none of the seas or oceans were any different ( higher ) then they are now.

Be interesting to see how the loony lefties and Greenies can get around this FACTUAL info.

I wonder if that has anything to do with them knowing how to make roads that actually last more than one winter then?

I knew a bloke who was in a taxi, somewhere in the Middle East, back in the seventies. The taxi had a badly collision damaged front guard. When the passenger made comment on the driver's cavalier driving style, the driver stated that Allah would look after them. Pointing out the state of the car, the driver responded with "Allah had one eye closed."

We went back last Sept just to catch up with family (half way point from the UK) and show Jackson around. To quote Lindsay Buckingham "Never going back again".

I rented a new Ford Exploder because we needed 7 seats. It took me a day or two to get back in the swing of "To turn left from the right lane across 5 lanes at 120KPH, put indicator on, close eyes, reef on wheel and let Allah sort it out".

It's one of those places I reckon everyone needs to see once, if nothing else to just take in the absolute excess.
