If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Is your Volvo the one we picked up at Esk/Toogoolawah, one night?
Well done Ian, a real Riley in mini skirt

Yrs the 240’s were incredibly tough. My 245 manual was written off by a P plater running a red light into my drivers side A pillar. His little dihatsu charade was a fair bit shorter after the prang! I drove home. Shame as that was an earlier 245 in Volvo racing beige with the injected 2.1 engine with overdrive manual gearbox in lovely nic too!
    Cheers

First company car in the UK was a Volvo 340 (made in the Daf factory). Not the version with the Variomatic transmission thankfully.

100,000miles and the tops came off two pistons. Wet liners from memory so could have been repaired but no idea what damage was done to the head & valves, the company I worked for scrapped it.

To be fair, probably can't be classed as a 'real Volvo' !

Tops coming off pistons seemed to be a common problem once over 100,000 miles according to the dealer at the time.
Mind you it was a Company Car and wasn't treated very kindly !

My mate has one which is why it's on my list. Cheap and practical. Just not sure the boot will be big enough for the bike standing up with the front wheel off. It's kinda tight in my ford territory.

The other option I have is buy the Volvo as the family car and then I drive the territory. Really depends on running costs I guess...
