I bought a piece of second-hand furniture a week or so ago. It needed a new barrel bolt to hold the door closed. So, last week I went to Bunnings after a new straight barrel bolt. Each time I picked one up off the shelf I found it was an offset barrel bolt. I had to sift through a lot of barrel bolts just to find a couple of straight ones.

Of course, when I got home upon closer inspection of the bit of furniture, I found out that I needed an offset barrel bolt!

Today, I went back to Bunnings and while I was getting some other stuff, I went to the aisle previously awash with offset barrel bolts. Someone else must have complained about the dearth of straight barrel bolts last week. Today I found that there were far more straight barrel bolts hanging off the shelves. There was only one example of the size and material of offset barrel bolt available and of course it was the wrong size and material. The week before the place was groaning at the seams with offset barrel bolts. After leaving Bunnings, I had to drive to the other end of town and buy the offset barrel bolts from Mitre 10!
