Some may have seen this pic before.

All packed ready to go,another Fraser island camping trip.Early 70s.
Bloody hopeless in the soft sand, underpowered, shovels, the winch, snatch blocks, recovery gear got a continual work out, with lots of colourfull language from the old Man.
Not many around to help in those days.

We got one bogged over on the Western side of the island, trying to get off the beach and stayed the night, didn't get it out until the next day

    All fun and games.

Holiday, Land Rovers, do these fit with your title, Paul?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

1969 - You must have been one of Gordon Elmer's first barge customers. Or did you do what my late father did by using a fishing trawler to get his Landy to and from Fraser on his first trip there.

All trips on Gordon’s barge,my late Father did a lot of environmental research on the island.
    From 1969 to 1974.
He became great friends with Gordon.
I think the barge started late 1968.

The surf fishing there in those days was unbelievable.

We got stuck into a school of Taylor in 1970 - released over 30 into the Champagne Pool. Great times.
Unfortunately, I lost my camera on day 1 when driving from the barge to Happy Valley so no photos. However, I did get the camera back as a guy picked it up before the incoming tide got it, and he kindly left his contact details with Gordon.
