Insurance: RR, RRS and other variants

Been reading on UK websites insurance for recent model RR and RRS is becoming problematic. Stupid premiums, excessive theft 'excess' provisions, declining to renew existing policies and even some reporting cancellation of existing policies mid term.

In a vote of confidence in their product even LR Insurance in the UK is said to decline to insure these vehicles. Not sure if that's the full story or there are other commercial factors are in play here.

Land Rover insurance problems mount as owners are refused in-house cover

I understand LR has some sort of program in the UK to recall and upgrade security on recent models to address issues. Whether that curbs thefts or arrests the runaway insurance hikes is yet to be seen.

I have an order in the system for a new L461 RRS. I'm a bit concerned about what I read, considering trends overseas often end up becoming trends here. So wondering whether owners of recent RR and RRS models have noticed unusual movements in insurance costs in recent times.

There are no issues with the latest models, they have upgraded security.

    From what I read--
new "Ultra wide band" technology used from 2018'ish has resulted in Zero hacking thefts... they still break in and just take the keys off the sideboard, but you cant cure stupid..

LR are into the insurance companies saying they are not using their data correctly.

I might re-send the email I sent JLR AUS about this issue, see if their response is different.

I like the new RRS better than the FFRR....

These kind of things go in waves. Not so long ago it was Peugeot that you could not get insurance for in and around London due to the high theft levels

Technology pays a part. Had a couple of P38 Range Rovers and could not lock either if parked at the airport as something interfered with the remote locking. Same thing happened if I parked in a particular place in the high street. Once again was not only Range Rovers of the time other brands had similar problems

24MY D250 Fuji White - I like refrigerators and it does not show pin strips. The D250 has ~same output as my SDV6 so happy enough with that.

    Options
Deleted the factory tow bar - The factory job looks like it's suitable to tow the garden waist to the dump. Will fit something more suitable myself.
20 inch rims - 275/55/R20 to be fitted. Dealer reckons 23 inch is the go, that's what all the drug dealers want.
Full Sized Spare - LR are getting stingy but dealer says people are happy with space savers, weird.
Twin speed transfer box - can't believe that's not standard.
Advance Tow Assist - Finally, somebody more competent than me to reverse the camper.
Park Assist - Neat gadget & besides I think Kia's have it.
Solar Attenuating Windscreen - yeah, yeah
Twin Blade Visors - if one blade falls off there is a back up.
Metal Load Space Scuff Plates - probably could have bought it on eBay.

Delivery in May. Hope the insurance is cheap
