I am pretty certain that almost all "DC-3"s operating in Australia since 1945 have been actually C-47s. Most, however, have had civilian style seating installed.

It may have been a back up Aircraft for that to happen. F27s seemed to be fairly consistent once they were introduced.
Reminds me.
During WW2 my late uncle was seconded to fly "Bully Beef Bombers" in New Guinea. Up & Down the valleys stuff. I think he was flying for Guinea Airways SA at the time. & always DC3s then later ANSETT & flew their New Lockheed Electra to Adelaide & doing a couple of authorised circuits around the Adelaide oval when the Grand Finals were being played
. Good old Reg, never missed a trick when it came to Publicity
I loved visiting him Post War in West Preston & he had some most interesting Memorabilia Astro Compasses, Australian Army Bayonets ( Probably left on his Aircraft when troops disembarked)
Morse Code sets & he & my aunt( also a qualified Pilot) tried to teach me the Code but my visit was cut short & I was off to Cobden to stay with my C of E uncle & was to do the rounds with him on a Sunday including Coorimungle (sp) Prison Farm, now closed.
Not sure if there were any Paedos there & certainly not obvious.
I also remember my Pilot Unc taking me to a Surplus Store near a Bridge over the Yarra. but sort of underground & set back into the embankment. ?????
Years later I found my way there again when at the Victorian Scout Jamboree. to buy some ex RAN clobber for use of our Troop Boat's Crew at the up & coming Sea Scout Regatta at Outer Harbour.
Ah the good times, eh?

And agree when they ask, which they always do, if you will help in an emergency or you will be moved.
Back to deafness, the FIL was a classic,he had industrial deafness, and loved a good argument.
He used to think he heard someone say something and start an argument about something that hadn't even been said
Anyway,a top guy,got to 90,and is missed by many.
