    Inflation

I could make this depressing like the cost of a cupper or fuel price. Instead how about this

"In 1972 Gough Whitlam was prime minister, Peter Brock had conquered the Hardie-Ferodo 500 (500 miles) at Bathurst for the first time, and you could have driven a Holden Monaro GTS out of a new car dealership for just under $7,500.
Just over half a century later, that same Monaro has changed hands for $346,185 at auction. "
Holden muscle cars sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars as national motor museum in Echuca closes - ABC News

    Inflation for a similar price with a 1952 | Jaguar XK 120 C (C-Type) For Sale: Jaguar XK 120 C (C-Type) (1952) offered for EUR 199,000 (classic-trader.com)

Perhaps I sold my Disco to cheaply

You are only talking petty cash here. A Falcon of the same vintage fetched 1.3 mil back in September 2021.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Try this one then

"A missile-firing 1979 Star Wars Boba Fett action figure was launched into the record books after selling for $525,000 (£411,000) at Heritage Auctions in the US on May 31, becoming the most expensive vintage toy ever sold at auction."

One some of you might know was Gigantor

"Gigantor (Japanese: 鉄人28号, Hepburn: Tetsujin Nijūhachi-gō, lit. "Iron Man No. 28") is a 1963 anime adaptation of Tetsujin 28-go, a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama released in 1956. It debuted on US television in January 1966."

1960's vintage Nomura GIGANTOR tin toy TETSUJIN 28 robot made in Japan RARE !!! | eBay Asking for $2000 plus?

I wouldn't be tempted to hand over $525 for the most coveted toy I never had.
Maybe, if I didn't own two Land Rovers.........

Alt energy EV misfiled? too fun and fits the Inflation thread

120y.jpg Personally I suspect this is a bit hyped or anti EV. Glasses guide suggests 1430 to $3300 ish for a 1979 car

I remember something about the Monaro sitting on its chassis on the broken bridge over the Derwent.

Money was offered, think the chap refused, prolly cause his budgie smugglers were still stuck to the vinyl.
