My late wife and I did a big round trip 30 odd years ago , around the top to the Alice then down to Mt Dare, visited Molly Clarke then east on the French Line. This was just after light rain and many wild flowers were out, Beautiful.
I would like to see them again before I kark it.
Stopped at Purni Bore for a dip in the hot pool. There was a valve to open to let hot water in to the desired temperature but I believe thats all gone now.

Just put that in as not many would have seen it.
Trying to add flower pics but they are on photobucket and I am having trouble with it.
Try later.

Never said I admired the blokes I was forced to read. But my school was very much in the vein of an English Public School. Clancy, or The Sentimental Bloke, were far too antipodean. When I was first introduced to "The Loaded Dog" I ****ed myself. Same with "Dad and Dave", I have to say. Later additions to Aussie humour would include Nino.
But, even in the late 60s the Establishment was ashamed to be Australian, it seems. My school bred Premiers and Prime Ministers, and it showed.
Back on topic. Would anyone here consider doing the trip solo? Dave? Den?

JT, this is a trip I did (anti-clockwise) in '05, in my D1. I was accompanied by a mate in his 4Runner for most of the way.
Neither of us had any major issues. The worst being the breaking of the plastic mounts on the Tojo's radiator cowling.
With the correct preparation, plus the amount of "Iconic Induced' people doing it these days, I would be willing to do it solo.
The main proviso would be that I had my D1, not my D3!
