This is not new.
40 years ago, when I worked on the railways, a tradie told me he had seen a paper put out by the European authority that sets the labelling for signage and descriptions of all thing relevant, that they were considering changing the name of electrical components, called “Male “ and “Female” connectors to Positive and Negative connectors, because of all the complaints they were getting from feminist groups
Some months later, the tradie told me that in their most recent paper on the name change, because they had received so many complaints from the same feminist groups about calling the “Female” connectors Negative connectors, that they have decided they will not be changing the labelling, “for now"
