    Pop top and elevated bed

Trying to figure out layout ideas for my OKA. I hate the current one. One thing that intrigues me is the commercial pop tops, Mulgo, AluKab sort of thing, that have a bed platform up top, that can be raised with the roof but pulled down for sleeping. In my case this will need to be DIY. Anyone got any clues or ideas for something like this? My pop top is not one of those angled things, the whole thing goes up.

    Hi,
At about the 2 minute spot in the video shows the lift up beds in the Innovan.

This is what we have, and are very happy with it .
May inspire some ideas to suit your set up .

    Cheers

Check out Dan Grec from the road chose me, he is currently building something like that. I am going to start on mine in a few weeks as well and I am still bouncing around some ideas though I will have the wedge pop-top. I think with a full pop you either need to push the bed up from below or pull it up, hanging from the roof somehow.

    Cheers,

I was thinking maybe hanging it from the roof with some of those airbags that lift it. I’ve seen some with gas struts.

JT, one thing I've done with all these types of beds is put a sheet of thin, silver, roofing insulation (Like used in sheds) under the mattress. It will stop any rising air chilling the underside of the mattress. It makes a difference, even with a rooftop tent.

The assembling could provoke some nocturnal mirth from adjacent sites if endeavoring to erect these things at mid night after a late arrival on site.

Yet another reason why I don’t like “sites”.
