I had a quick check last night on FB about this Gundagai event. This event is not being organised by the "Clubs", they are going to be "brought on board later"?? apparently.

I went the 70th and 75th in Cooma, as did Inc I believe, and no doubt many others here. The 70th was far and away better organised that the 75th. The 2018 event was organised by the clubs, local council and local car club.

The 2023 event was, I believe, organised by .... ummm, private enterprise, ..... perhaps with the ultimate goal of making a profit. There was involvement by the local car club but I don't believe the local council were as heavily involved.

Personally, I don't think events like this should be seen as a money making activity but should be organised to just over the breakeven level, so that it doesn't ultimately cost someone out of pocket. Left overs should go to club coffers or a national charity, not a business' balance sheet.

If an 80th is organised by the clubs again and I'm still able to drive long distances, sure I might go. Don't think we need national gatherings ever year or two.

Wow! I've never seen such a long post from you, Ray a.k.a. 'Chook Tolstoy'.

    Well said, though.

I've made longer posts than this! I know it takes you a while to read things maybe that just made it seem long.
