JLR is late to the go woke, go broke movement. By now the writing is on the wall but they seemed to have missed that somehow.

Funnily enough I heard someone on a podcast somewhere sarcastically remark that a rebrand was needed and that it was a brave move, though he did have a single point in his sarcasm that made "perfect" sense: Jaguar had an image of older men with cigars wafting around in opulence and with style. Usually propelled by a straight six or for the lucky few a V12 purring under the bonnet. Since all cars will be electric, that image would never make sense again anyway... so change was inevitable.

Basically; they were not selling any cars on image alone anymore so they have updated the branding to match the sales? :P

It's an interesting time we live in. I personally have learned, with great difficulty I might add, to love a brand or IP (or retain the love for it) by simply defining era's. Star Trek? TNG was peak and anything after 2009 does not exists as far as I am concerned. Jaguar? stopped years ago etc etc.

    Cheers,
    -P

This is, to my ancient style of thinking, a good example of copying Everything woke...

"Luxury car maker Jaguar has unveiled its new electric concept car and, like a recent controversial teaser video, it has divided opinion.
Some on social media said the new Type 00 car was "exciting" and "absolutely stunning", while others called it "rubbish" and told Jaguar's designers to "go back to the drawing board"."

The new jag may be cool or crazy

Don't forget, Elon has put a whole lot of the EV market off Tesla with the whole Trump campaign. Tesla is the market leader when it comes to EV, and now with potentially a whole heap of people put off of the brand, Jaguar are now aiming to take up that market share. Hate it and call it 'woke' all you want, (Mind you woke is the new buzzword, just because you don't agree or like something does not mean its 'woke') they are taking a risk and hoping to eat up those disgruntled customers. Either way, 98% of this forum were not and will not be in the market for an EV - so it really doesn't matter if you like it or not

Concept cars have always been both cool and crazy, that's the whole point of them

Jaguar Land Rover has both a marketing and vehicle design teams that are looking for career defining marketing shake ups so they can go on to bigger and better things
