    Australian made products overseas

Last week we went on our yearly trip to the abenteuer und allrad messe in Bad kissingen, Germany. It was a great camp and fairground as usual and the weather was perfect. This year my bookies poor van did not have to be skulldragged through the mud to get back to tarmac

In any case, I would love to talk more about the entire experience but I'll save that for another day. A few things were remarkable this year, one of them being the sudden explosion of Australian made (or at least developed) products. Sure we saw a few in the past, mostly as part of a stand of some 4x4 builder but this year I noticed a significant increase in dedicated stands or at least a separate stand as part of a large vehicle builder. Some of the brands I noticed were:

    • redarc
    • pedders
    • iron man
    • dba
    • terrain tamer

I am sure there were more but these come to mind as I write this. It is funny to see redarc finally trying to break into europe since we already have plenty of choice but hey, I think they make a nice product so why not?

Not sure why after all those years the ozzies pop up just now though. I was not able to have a chat at each and every stand to ask. I do know that the importer of alu-cab (which is south african) mentioned that most of their stuff came from down under, funny that

    Cheers,
    -P

ARB are pretty big overseas as well,we saw heaps of their products in East Africa when we were there.

Some of the Bars on Land Cruisers were also very good copies of ARB bars, made locally.

You might be surprised at Australian developments and inventions that were sold to and successfully marketed by overseas companies.

    Aircraft black box.
    Aircraft emergency evacuation slides.
    Flying doctors.
    Vegimite and Tim Tams.
    The list goes on
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Ah yes, true, some are only brands and not made in oz and touche ARB and vegimite existed over here waaaay before indeed.

Still, I was of course referring to off-road or 4x4 related products that you guys have had for at least I decade I would argue. They did not just slowly enter the european market but seemingly made a big entry as of this/last year.

If you export flying doctors, does that mean they simply flew too far?
