Is Aus as deadly as people think?

Because I'm a little housebound at the moment I spend a bit of time on YT. ( If ever there was a time waster... and don't get me started on the algorithm ) Seems like a lot of our North American cousins are quite literally afraid of our wildlife. Hmm. Just lately the Algorithm has decided, for reasons unknown, that I'm interested in bears. Grizzlies, Kodiaks, Alaskan... yeah, all grizzlies really. Then they have wolves, coyotes ( sorta wolf ) and bloody mountain lions. Well sure, there's talk of panthers here in Vic, but... The most dangerous things I have near me are male fallow deer. Imagine walking outside to find a grizzly. No wonder they carry on about the 2nd Amendment.
Sure, a big saltie makes up for all of those, but we don't get them in Vic. And the ocean belongs to the sharks, imo. When they start walking I'm gone.
Keep away from spiders, snakes and bloody blue ringed octopi ( see above re sharks, they deserve each other ) and you'll be fine. Aus is probably the safest continent. We don't even have a 2nd Amendment to create posses of heavily armed rednecks. Present company excepted.

Even though every second animal in the Australian wild has 50 different ways to kill somebody - including stingers, cassowary, drop bears and stone fish... I agree that we are a much safer place to live. We can walk the streets and bush, and go to school without risk, and the only shots that get sent around here are on a Friday or Saturday night at the pub or from your kitchen bench!

And stone fish are usually somewhere near where the crocs are... considering crocs are known to swim from the NT to Timor. See comment re ocean...

Plenty of Stone fish down the WA coast, well below where the crocs come. I remember when I was about 6 or 7 my grandads mate treading on one. Managed to get RFDS to airlift him to Carnarvon.

Saw a few up around Shark Bay last week. Ugly bastards.

Unsure if the same advice applies to dropbears of different colours.

Some people don't believe in drop bears but when the Australian Museum has a webpage about them, you have to believe they are real!

Further than that Simon. College's Crossing, southwest of Brisbane, is a known area for the stonefishs' freshwater cousin, the bullrout.

More people in Australia are killed by bees, than any other animal. Let's just keep that a secret from the Yanks. No need to encourage them.
