    Jeep or D4

I have just purchased a boat weighing 3200 Kg. My poor little Td5 struggled to tow it.

The person who sold me the boat towed it with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. He said that he comfortably sits on 110 KPH towing this boat.

A friend of mine also has the same Jeep and he did the big lap towing a caravan

I know Jeeps don't have the best reputation, but neither do Landrovers.

Both of the above purchased them new and have had zero issues and both reckon that they are great.

    With a budget in the low 20K I can get a decent 2013 D4 or a good 2016/17 Jeep

The Jeep from my research has a much better fuel economy over the D4, which with the cost of diesel is very important.

The D4 having broken crankshaft issues is also a worry.

    So which do I get

I still intend to keep my D2 for serious off road stuff and the other car for my tug
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

If it's only for towing the tinnie (), why not get something a little safer, from the Orient?
I know a fellow who can tell you how bad Jeep is. The court forced Jeep to give him a full refund +$3,000.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I'd be really surprised if there was a significant difference when towing. There may be around town however.

Agree here. However, it will also become my daily driver so not towing fuel economy is more important.

To a point, towing economy is not as important as I know anything will be bad pulling 3 plus tons.

I was recently talking to some one who had 7.4 litre F 350 Ford. He said not towing he gets 17 litres per 100Km Towing 3 ton he also gets 17 litres per 100Km.

If not for the 50K plus price tag I would love one.

The 7.4 engine is known as the million mile(not Kms) motor.
