The cost of repairing my Ford

Hi guys my Ford Mondeo wagon died June 24th and got it towed to my repair place. they had it for 4 days and it seems my transmission died, Found out there was a fault with the plastic retaining clips and something else from 2011 to 2016 and mine falls in the middle. Any way they couldn't fix it because they couldn't get parts for it in Australia. Someone told me about a specialist in Pakenham, I rang them and they knew what was wrong and quoted 6800. Got it tow there, they import all there parts as there is nothing in Australia, they had it from for a good 2 months waiting for stuff to come for overseas. He told me if I went to Ford I would be looking at 15,000 as they would have to get the whole transmission from overseas. Nothing is made here any more. And going down the rabbit hole for another second hand car with low Ks they are asking for over 20,000 for anything good and me being a Ford girl all my life and Mario had a Ford when I first met him Also how do I know how the car was looked after. They pulled it out striped right back, replace everything the duel clutch seal gaskets clutches etc. They rang me today it is ready to be picked up, now have to see if Devin can take me there Saturday, or Bruce across the road on his day off next Tuesday. Also it only has 130,000ks on it Oh well I have talked enough better go and do a transfer of the 6800

Well I am going to pick up my car tonight. As Devin works about a 5 min walk from that place, he is going to pick it up and put it behind the gates at his work. He will come home after he finishes work and pick me up ad we go back to his work and get it , as he has the keys for his work. It will be nice to have it back, as I have been using Brendon (the one that lives in Japan) car here for the last few months. So I will have to go back to driving 2 cars, and taking them in turn.

Imo it's better than spending $7k on an unknown. Good luck with it, Heather.

I am in the same boat, Heather. The D3 is presently getting a gearbox make-over, for around the same price. I know I'm taking a gamble with the other mechanicals, but can't afford a new car and for $7k there's not much out there that interests me.

Same here really. I could maybe get 3-4 k for the D2. My current situation is that I just keep it going. But it does keep going and what would I get for that? They are still great to drive. Any spare cash that might come my way goes to the OKA.

No there is nothing around, everyone seems to be keeping there cars now and just getting them repaired, that is what I have heard from where I get my car serviced now, my car went to another place as they could get parts for it as they import parts. As we all know there isn't any parts made in Australia for any cars now.
When we had our business we had a real hard time trying to find parts for our customers.
Hope you get a long life now for the D3

Well I pick up my car with the help of Devin driving me up there. Last night it was raining and the back roads where dark going up there so it was a slow drive home. Today I took it out for a drive and I never realize before the first gear took a very little bit of time to move in to 2nd gear. Well today it was like butter with the quicker move in to second gear and so on. And yes at the moment it was worth getting the Ford Mondeo fixed even though the price of it. It has a warranty of 40ks or a year, the year will come up first before the Ks does. So I hope I have done the right thing and Mario would have approve of it. Have a good weekend guys.
