I have yet to see any rose joints used anywhere in the steering linkage of any 2a, and to fit any would require engineering approval, which is unlikely. If yours already has a rose joint on the steering drop arm, this is non standard.
The Series 2a (and nearly all Series Landrovers) have a standard tie rod end on both ends of three links - steering box drop arm to steering relay, steering relay to steering arm on the passenger side swivel housing, and the track rod between steering arms on the swivel housing. Each link has identical tie rod ends on each end except that each link has a left hand thread on one end and right hand thread on the other end of the tubular link. Note that there are two types - up to 2a have the clamp section of the tube unthreaded, and a matching unthreaded bit on the tie rod end. Series 3 is fully threaded. These are not interchangeable except as complete links, and mixing the type on the tube and the tie rod end has caused fatal accidents.
If all of these tie rod ends are in good condition and tight in tube and taper joint to arm, there will be no lost motion from the linkage. All lost motion in the steering of a Series 2a will be from:-
Steering box loose on mounts (either on mounting plate or bulkhead)
Wear in the steering box*
Steering drop arm loose on spline
Upper or lower steering arm on relay loose on spline
Relay unit badly worn
Relay unit loose in chassis*
Steering arm loose on swivel housing
Lack of swivel preload or worn upper bushing*
Loose wheel bearings
Loose U-bolts*
Broken spring leaf
Worn spring bushes*
*More common
