HR:
hanks for your email.
I'm sorry to hear you've not had any luck with Toyota, unfortuantely I do not have the towing specifications of your vehicle. I can only advise what the towbar is rated at (3500kg), as we tend to rate our towbars higher than the capacity of the vehicle.
According to CarsGuide:
"The towing capacity of the 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser supports up to 3500kg". They provide a table of variants and towing capacities here:
1993 Toyota Land Cruiser Towing Capacity | CarsGuide
Having thought about it, I thought pretty much all real Landcruisers were 3500. It was only the "Landcruiser" playdoughs that were limited.
This is my issue. I have other info (which I can't find ATM) that states otherwise. I do remember it said that a 1996 tilly's ball weight was 250kg.
Edit: From Google. So, is it rated at 3500kg, with a 250kg ball weight, or what? Sooo confusing! [bigsad] What compounds things is that the increase to 350kg was made to the same vehicle! My main worry is insurance. If anyone can fudge the facts, it's them.
For a 1996 Land Cruiser 80 Series:
- Earlier 1996 Models (Pre-October): The manufacturer-specified ball weight was often around 250kg. [COLOR=#1F1F1F !important]
- Later 1996 Models (October onwards): The rating was increased to 350kg, corresponding to the 3500kg towing capacity. [COLOR=#1F1F1F !important]

Key Considerations:
- Build Date is Crucial:
The changeover to 350kg occurred in October 1996, so the exact build date of your vehicle is essential for determining the correct rating.
One of my sons bought a NEW car from 'The Middle Kingdom' and, barely a year old, cleaned up a small kangaroo. Long story short, insurance ended up. months later writing it off / paying him out. due to inability to source a few minor (?) 'body panels' & stuff around said impact site. Thus the spiral begins.... payout went to pay out his loan, then 'no wheels'. to a return to. "GO".... badly advised private purchase.... which is turning out to be lemon-coloured....more High Finance... =. more ill=advised costs... now behind where he started from... The start of that story I'm hearing more often now,
*Dual clutch needs $$$$$m. cannot get VITAL. $20 parts expedited 150km out of Perth....[bigsmile]
===. Dad's Couriers up for 300km on Tuesday... for a postal envelope worth of gasket/O ring.[bigsad]
