I have a Lucas distributer (with electronic gear). Is that the one you mean (or is it called a Land Rover distributer)?

Do the Lucas leads cover the plugs better or something?

Nah we just found in the Uk that Gen land rover Lucas Dissy and Lucas leads and Champion spoark plugs made it alot better in water than after market stuff that did not fir poperly. after all that is what they were made for
Also have found fitting a steering guard helps as it stop water coming up from behind the rad and hitting the dissy

Yep made it thru. The shallowest path takes you right up against that island I'm heading for. I got some water in the door seals and lifted the carpets for a couple of days to dry. I also then used black silicon to improve the seals at the door bottoms(Ie reposition the rubber dowells and smooth out the gap at the join) and this worked a treat later on.
I changed the rear diff oil at Laura on the way south as it had got milky-I changed the front when I got home. The transmission/transfer c are fine-thier breathers are much higher. Still working myway thru checking the hubs/wheel bearings.

I remember that particular crossing. Someone had come to grief in it not long before we went thru. As I recall there was a deep hole and if you took the wrong line, thats where you came went for the deep swim.

You know the old advise about checking creek crossings on foot before driving thru? Well Numpty made me wade thru all the crossings. Maybe he was hoping a hungry croc would take me:angel:

He was kind and didn't make me wade thru that one. We got thru no worries also (in our SIII Stage I)

Yep....if you strayed too far to the left it drops to about 5-6 feet. Nice swimming weather while we were there. No crocs in those inland streams is there? Not in the moving water anyway?? Who knows? What color is your series landy-there was a lwb, yellow one drying out on the north side of the crossing when we went thru early July.

There are crocs all through the top end of Australia. They get salties in the Katherine Gorge, how far inland is that? My Aunt and Uncle used to have 16 km of river frontage on the Daly River, 200 km from the sea and they got their fair share of salties, especially in more recent years.

Since hunting crocs has been banned the numbers have skyrocketed. Younger, stronger crocs get the good coastal waterways, older ones get shunted further and further upstream. Mind you, being eaten by an old croc still wouldn't feel too flash...:o
