Well I have nearly got my Home theatre finished..yay says SWMBO, I have installed the projector (ceiling mount) and the motorised 3m screen and the 7.1 speakers... it used to be a double garage under the main roof 5.5m x 6m so I bricked it in, raised the ceiling and plastered the walls, fitted double door entry, installed 6 down lights and all the speaker wiring with plate mounted banana plug fittings all chased into the walls, inbuilt DVD library behind the screen and all I have left before the grand final is paint and carpet, But I have been peering out the lounge window at the fender thinking I should be tinkering with her instead hence the title and thank god its raining..
Total cost of this addon is$450 in building materials a lot was aquired through work from left overs 1000 bricks, 10 bags of cement etc
sound and projection gear is around the $10k mark and I installed it all myself and taught the projectors remote to operate everything , even the screen.
Now future installs, small beer fridge in the room, and some of those lazy reclining hometheatre seats.. then I'm set to watch the grand final in style.
next building addon is the new garage on the other side of the house brick and tile 7mx 11.5m including workshop area 3.3m high ceiling with storage over reinforce joists, 2 large "I" beams running the length as to use as a indoors crane with a chain block and tackle for engine removal, at the back of the garage is a 4mx4m workshop area which will have benchs etc.. also small door acces to cellar/store under main house also a toilet and shower as not to mess up inside the house..doh...
now suggestions on what at the building stage you guys wished you had added?
oh will add pics once painting is done

Understand the dilemma completely!!!!
There is no easy way out, but better to finish one project completely first rather than have two semi-finished that will irritate you to death. But imagine how you can spoil the 'fender once you have the building finished...
Good luck!
Dawg,
sounds like you have way too much money and time on your hands. I am having a hard time convincing my missus to let me get a Plasma at only $3k.
Something you can relate too a friend was hit on his R1 in Perth the other day waiting at a set of lights on a freeway access ramp, when hit hard from behind. Broken pelvis (femur joint), broken femur head, broken lower femur, knee broken in 3 places, broken tibula and broken elbow. Another few pins to add to his cololection of speedway injuries.

Why would you have a set of lights on a freeway access ramp? That's asking for accidents to occur.Originally Posted by CraigE
They put those metering lights on an access ramp to the M4 here in Sydney but I don't think I ever saw them used. They have since been removed.

$10G worth of home entertainment and your only putting a small fridge in![]()
130's rule
It's ok coz he'll be drinking the beer faster than his missus can fill the fridge.

You need to get a live satellite feed from a camera on your Defender to the home theatre. Then your wife can sit back and enjoy virtual 4WDing, she won't feel left out when you go bush, and she won't have to put up with the dirt.
If your mates are going on a trip that you can't attend, lend them the Defender Cam and sit back at home & enjoy.
If Satellite is too expensive, you may be able to route the signal through a Digital phone - provided there's reception at the 4WD location.
Also big enough double doors to drive the Defender in, gives the whole thing a safari feel when you're watching nature documentaries from the drivers seat.
I could go on ..... but I've said enough already.
