There's plenty of room to run extra wires up through where the existing wires go. To get them up to the pod on top of the dash, you can pass them behind the louvre panel thing and out where the ashtray was. ...much easier done than said...

Rather than creat a new "dash thread" I thought I'd tack my question on to this one.

I'm looking to build (have a go) at building a custom dash for my TD5 2001 Defender.

Behind the center dash there are two metal brackets. one either side of the dash running front to back and look to be pop rivited in place top and bottom.

Can anyone tell me if thise are structural or can I ust remove them without replacing.

Or do I need to make up (incorporate) supporting brackest in my design?

    thanks for any advise /suggestions.

    Hi scott oz,

Can't really answer your question, I've done a little mod you see on the picture without removing/damaging original structure. I'd suggest to incorporate supporting brackets if you can, or even change design to do it. Can't help more not knowing your idea

Center dash in Defender 2004, mark 1. Made out of fiberglass. 10" touch screen, custom computer behind. GPS, media, etc.

    Cheers,
    Ruslan
