    numbering conventions

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the unoffical use of certain types of presentation for the numbers in the series of our beloved rovers..

It seems to me that the series rovers (you know the old ones that look like lego bricks on wheels) get roman numerals (I II IIa and III) yet the Discovery series (the ones you dont want to hose out) always wind up with D followed by the number (D1 D2 and D3).

A 110 is always a deefer as is a 90 and a county 110 is always refered to as a county...

I wonder.. (as is my want when im doing the insomnia thing) if it would not be worth coming up with a generic list for the newbies who join and may not know the colloquialisms.

sounds like you just volunteered your self into a nice little number (pardon the pun)

let me know when it is done and we will put it in the tutorials section or in the FAQ section.

I noticed you excluded Rangies and Freelanders from the list?

    Also 130's, FC/101, D2a ...

I think you'll have to work on it. From memory LRE did an article along these lines (or one of the UK mags).

Have fun, look forward to the results

While you're at it, can you work out what we are going to call the new body style Defender - whenever that happens. Can't be a D2...

you just need to state is the wheel base :

    80
    88
    107
    109
    101

The above covers all the important rovers. If it's not one of the above who cares about it anyway ?

For the RR, there is also the RRC, P38 or P38a, not sure what the current one is, and also the pure sex machine - the RRS
