    These magazine awards are becoming ridiculous. The awards are given to suit there reading demographic by the looks of it not on merit. How can a soft cock roader outdo a D3 in all-round performance, doesn't make sense

    In 4WD Monthly's defense, they did do a 'real' world test not up girly back roads and on bitumen. I think it was unjust about the D3's disaster in the middle of nowhere. The lack of suport from LR and the unability to re-set the system trackside was the main cuilprit from memory after reading the article. Like most electronic items, they do have glitches I guess.

    The D3 was the most hi-tech vehicle on the A4WDM test, that aside it was ****ting all over the Jap crap offerings to that point in many aspects.

    I saw ths silly tv programme hosted by Glen someone, (who once fronted Sale of the century) and they were 'testing' 4wds.

    on a typical dirt road with a washaway with about an inch of water across it... they had several soft roaders 'going deep' and even had slo mo replays.... unbelievable.....!!!!

    grannie could have done it on one of those 'mobility scooter things'.....

    (and had more of a thrill....)

    the award to the Audi Q7 says it all, and its probalby good there are now so called new classes, for better or for worse,

    * recreational 4wd = soft roader
    * luxury 4wd = soft roader with leather and satnav
    * all terrain 4wd = LAND ROVER!!!!!!

    I may have a D1 but its got the right badge!!!!!!
