Having a bit of a picnic Sat 17th feb Mt sugarloaf lookout

Quick Novercastrians hide, the Numpties are coming.

On Sat 17th Feb all the planets have alligned as one. I actually have a day off work. This event coincides with both of the Numpties and Blknight traversing the area on this very day.

Anyone is welcome to come up for a social gathering, eating, drinking and such. BYO everything that way no-one can get dissapointed by my dismall cooking abilities.

There are one or two tracks around the area for those interested but the day is mainly a social get together and a break for all the weary travellers.

    10am - till whenever

    directions as follows

    Mt Sugarloaf Lookout
If you do take the turnoff into George Booth Drive then 9.5 km from John Renshaw Drive is the turnoff on the right into Mt Sugarloaf Rd which takes you to the top of Mt Sugarloaf itself where, at 412 m above sea-level, there are picnic and barbecue areas, several walking tracks (ranging from 275 m to 1.6 km) and some magnificent views of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Lower Hunter Valley. The two large steel structures at the top are television transmitters.

Assuming you will come up the F3, take the exit at Seahampton (near West Wallsend), turn left onto George Booth Drive (right goes over the F3 toward West Wallsend, Edgeworth, Cardiff etc).

I never go that way, but think Mt Sugarloaf, with TV transmission towers, should be obvious on the left as you approach the exit (unless hidden by low cloud). BTW James Cook named Mt Sugarloaf because it was a prominent landmark as the Endevour sailed up the coast.

The small village of Seahampton is right there and the turn-off to Sugarloaf is about 2 km further (1st turn on left, after Seahampton) near the bottom of a hill.

Looking forward to an uneventful trip...and some fun on Saturday

And who picked the wrong weekend
