    OT - Subaru Pollen Filters

My wife's 2005 Subaru Forester went in for a 25,000km service last week. I was keying the data into the computer and I noticed they charged $70 labour to change the single pollen filter (plus $56 for the filter).

Now I've changed both pollen filters in my P38A and it takes no more than 5 minutes to do both - I did it last week.

Has anyone else got a Sooby and have they changed the filters? Was it easy or did Subaru do it and charge a lot to do it?

I'll check the car when I get home to see how easy it is. That's one job they'll never, ever do again for me.

thats the latest way of making an extra $50 or so dollars on a service.....

of all the cars out there that have pollen filters.......most have never been changed......
the owners dont even know they exist.......

and dont be surprised if you go to change it and there was never one fitted.....
a lot of cars came out without one......but have the slots/brackets fitted to take one.....

so....initially they may be fitting one where there wasnt one to begin with.....

you will need to pay attention to the airflow from the ac system to ensure it doesnt drop off as the filter gets clogged......
as this will most certainly cause the condenser to freeze up........

most are fitted in behind the glove box......you just remove the glove box and you will see the filter......

and the ryco filters come with a set of instructions as to where they fit......and how.....

Ahh. Maybe that's it. On the P38A, one opens the bonnet and there they are, one each side, just below the windscreen. Very easy to access.

    Thanks Tony.
