    Help. What landrover to buy???

I know I probably need to refine my search. But i'm looking for value for money initially while keeping in mind resale. Therefore i'm considering the following:

    1-a disco ser2 v8 or td5. for between $15-$21k.
2-a rangerover for between $15-$23k. (I hear these can be a
bit unreliable. computers, transmission, etc, etc, etc.)
    3-or defender for between $12-$20k.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

V8s are great but suck juice like there is no tomorrow like 20l/100ks, especially if you're city based. Country running is maybe down to 15l/100 depending how you drive.

Diesels use maybe half that, but have an ongoing maintenance schedule and everyone here will tell you, don't buy a diesel vers (of anyhting) without a full service maintenance history. D2 diesels have the 'loctite bolt' issue as well, if you get a D2diesel this must be addressed or big $$$$....

I bit more info and we'll all point you in our favourite directions

I run a seven seat Disco 1 V8 auto 'cause I occasionally need the extra seats, I know my way 'round V8s and the D1 can go anywhere I want to go. I don't care if it gets the odd scratch wandering along our narrow bush tracks or passes thru sandy bogs. I wouldn't push a nice shiny new(ish) one, I'd like it to stay new(ish)

    Horses for courses.

it all comes back to intended usage and what you like to drive..

if you want comfort and ongoing maintenance costs are not an issue, then a range rover

if you want some degree of comfort and lessor ongoing costs, then a v8 disco, if you dont mind a little rattle with your pretty good comfort then a diesel has benefits over a v8 if you are intending to rack up a few miles.

if you like outright ability, dont mind spartan ammenities, love the sound and economy of an oiler, then the fender is for you... and there is always the v8 county if you like that v8 rumble...

define your wants, needs and your ability to meet the maintenance costs and the answer should become clear :P

    enjoy the chase....

as for resale... get over it, it is a land rover.... once in the blood you dont sellem to often...
