Damn, i go away couple of weeks and everyone goes mad LOL . I'm not worried what they look like as i bought my Disco to use off road, If i wanted a show ponny i would have bought a 300c and put a set of 20" spinners on it with a duff duff stereo pumping while i wear all my adidas and bling bling jewelry LOL.
I do a lot of night time driving on unsealed roads and i thought these would help in spotting those night time wandering animals.
To be honest i kind of like the look of them they remind me of the light clusters on the front of rally cars and ive allways enjoyed rallying.
Thanks for all the comments and advise, much appreciated.

I've often wondered how jeep got those roof mounted lights past ADR tests, as a bloke that used to have a couple of Rallye 2000 lights mounted on a ute roof bar I an definately advise that they are not legal in NSW.

Must be like the UK , Where we just put them on and wait and see if a copper tells us to take them off. If they don't then we leave them on

Holden with the high intensity "FOG" lights in the front bumper, on any other car than those fitted from the factory are illegal, if they are part of the ADR process (which is rules pretty much based around what the car industry want) they are legal ON THAT VEHICAL ONLY.

Ford had the shaker on the BA GTs that by the 2" rule should not pass but because they put a hump in the bonnet first and then put it on they got it through ADR.

    Jeep with the lights.

Coppers can put what ever they want on their car and get away with it because when they get pulled over they flash freddie and either go on their way or get taken to ESD.

I dont know of any changes to lighting laws since the fog light laws changed in 1995 but when I did RWC basics in trade school it was 1 meter off the ground and no more, Lighting had to be to manufacturer spec and no higher wattage globes etc, Driving lights had to be hooked up to High beam only (and fog lights as far as road safty laws go were not to be used in daylight hours unless vision was impeded by fog or smoke) and fog lights had to be on a separate circuit to the head light circuit, No coloured lights facing forward other than indicators (e.g. couloured parking lights, neons and windscreen washer lights) and no white light to the rear unless reversing and then it was only 1 and to a cirtain wattage.

Side lights were Red and Orange only, red to the rear.

I think thats it from memory but thats the jist of it anyway.

I cant talk either as Im going to mount lights on my roof rack and I have a 100w reverse light and upgraded globes and wiring for the headlights but driving lights are legal and mounted correctly.

If I dont have to see your car then I dont care what it looks like, go for it but just dont post the pics...
