Just now, my general purpose bin welcomed an EPSOM. workforce printer..... Since day One, the ink cartridges have been a pain, every aftermarket one has eventually played up and refused to be recognised. Today, after not managing to unblock (?). Magenta, rejected the lot. Nope, some of the brands I've used were within dollars of 'genuine' cost price. NO second chance, in the bin, and tomorrow an. 'ink-tank' model. NOT epsom.[bigsad]

After having many different inkjet printers die on me due to lack of use ( dont need to use them too often,but when I do use them its normally around 50-60 pages at a time). I bought an Epson Eco Tank. Best thing ever. Had it over a year now and still runs when I boot it up and just about to change the tanks in it.Comes with a set of refills. Just had a look at their website,they range from around $250 up to $500, so they have increased their range (there was only 1 or 2 when I bought mine.)

My el cheapo $60 Epson XP235 has been going for about 6 years swallowing el cheapo cartridges with nary a problem, except it gives me a guilt trip by telling me that I am voiding my warranty by using el cheapo cartridges.
I think that your cartridges may have been old or hot or something.

My el cheapo XP-442 has taken to sullenly refusing to print black no matter how many times I perform a "deep clean". It's only about a year old, and replaced a HP that did the same thing, which replaced a Canon, ditto. I have a collection of cartridges for which I have zero use and which cost me more than those three printers combined. These days I have a card from Officeworks and I go there to print.Quote:

After 30 minutes am still on the phone holding / being ignored /back on hold with a mob of bad sales guys ....
So, off to Works to buy their 'eco-tank' machine, then I'll send a copy of sales receipt, to the overworked sales manager.
Or would it be just as cheap to buy a $70 cheapie, and ditch it for another when the ink runs out...?[bigwhistle]
