I'm clutching my pearls.
My favourite shop in the world is the bolt shop. Where a person will spend half an hour looking for a tiny bag of nuts/bolts/washers for you and charge you $3.2. Mean while that tiny bag of hardware would be $28 at hammerbarn once you'd find them. The blister pack tax.
A few weeks ago I ordered a radiator hose online for my brother's car. The first site I visited had the decency to say it would be on back order, the second one didn't so it took weeks to arrive.
My local bolt shops (2) are closer than my local hammerbarns ( also 2). Thing is, the bolt shop mob know what they are doing, and most of the stuff I want is not available in a blister pack. Both bolt shops have the (dis?) advantage of being near the tool shops. Oh wait, one tool shop has moved, to opposite the hammerbarn as it happens. Nevermind, the other one is near TWO tool shops. AND a hammerbarn... Spoilt for choice, me.
This story is even worse as I didn't even buy the part! When I got home today my retired truck driver neighbour was fiddling around with his car for awhile, so I went over to see what was wrong. Turns out he'd ordered a new tail light for his tray back Hilux, but it wouldn't fit due to different plugs, and the big "Auto" chain wouldn't take it back, so I ended up cutting off the plugs and wiring it up for him, was doing my head in at first as four colour changes in the wiring between old and new plugs and lights! While packing up I looked at the box and it said IIRC FJ75 Cruiser?
