Quick trip to Mt Augustus anyone ??????

Sorry bout the short notice, but a couple of us ( LR drivers) are of on a little trip ( 1 week) , start 25may end 2 or 3rd june.
Leave Gero up to the murch river and east along the Coolcalaya to Yallalong road.On to and up the Carnavon/Mullewa rd, back west on the Byro/Woodleigh gas road and up to Gasy junction via the Gilroyd track.
Aprox 650 kms.
Carry on north past the Kennedy range on the Wool Wagon path, on to the highway and Nanutarra roadhouse for fule/shower and steak sandwitch. Carry on east along the Wittenoom rd untill camping up around Wyloo, the start of the broke back track.
Aprox 477 kms.
Back down the track steady steady via Ashburton downs and across to Mt Augutus on the Pingandy track, for more showers/drinks/bonnets up ect.
Aprox 411 kms.
Then its across to Meeka and home down the tar or back down the Murch/Mullewa rd.
If anyones interested give us a PM, its not hard core trecking just 90% gravel/dirt tracks with some interesting bush along the way.

Sounds like a great trip. Love to come with you as I've never been to Mt Augustus yet, even though we used to live in Magnet for a few years. But just had a week off and would struggle to get the boss to approve another one. Maybe next time ....................

But watch out for the green frogs at the camp site there.

And the big thing that no one could tell us was. Mt Augustus is the biggest rock and Ayres rock is the bigest Momalith (or what ever) . But no one could tell me what the differance is between a rock and a mono thingy

A monolith is basically a big rock that extrudes from the ground and is basically bare, Mt Augustus is covered in vegitation so is regarded as a rock or outcrop. Mt Augustus I believe is much larger than Ayers Rock and protrudes into the ground much further.

I would tow a trailer and 1000 litres of fuel rather than give the thieving bastard at Nanutarra one cent of my hard earned money. Watch out, Bruce will rob you blind.

I had a long range tank put in my disco 3 just so I wouldn't have to stop there.

Well thats was our record for the most expensive fuel. $1.95 a ltr and that was a year ago now. We did not fill up as we had more than enough . But saw the price and then realised the extra spent on another fuel tank was more than worth it
