Bloody hell Dave, is that a service stuff up, ie did you do your trade through them.
how much do you have to do to catch up?
They'll be driving from all over the country to get to you, you'll never finish the house,

some of you may have noticed that Im offering to do work on other peoples cars at work...
Heres the how and why,,
Due to an administrational stuff up I have to redo my mechanics apprentiship..
Work that I do that can be "written off" as work histories I can claim towards my OJT, if we can paperwork a repair to look like its relevant i get the competancy.
If i do work on vehicles similar to the fleet we can order parts against the fleet to keep on shelf. IE you want your 4bdi Injectors cleaned you provide the vehicle and the parts needed and I do the paper work and order in a set of injector parts. The upshot is it isnt fraud if done in my own time cause you didnt get any free parts nor manhours. The workshop gets some parts ordered in that we (the employer) can use and the paper trail for the parts on shelf helps justify the OJT Docs.
There arent too many things I can do on civvy rover fleet but there are some.
Things I can do for example are..
Repair ancilleries on engines (4BDI's mainly)
Diagnose vehicle fault (think electrical/whats making that noise).

"In a Landrover the other vehicle is your crumple zone."
For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.

If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.

Yeouch that does bite. I was annoyed when I ended up 6 months behind in Tafe due to a colledge stuff up. I sympathise. But wont your previous Tafe modules and all that be interchangable...so ya shouldn't have to do all that again right?
Best of luck...I'm speechless...and ranting for ya.
I hate apprenticeship competencies anyways...Half the guys I do Tafe with will have to visit other workshops in order to pass every competency.
I can just see me doing the 10 hours or so driving to have you diagnose an electrical fault...
Geez Dave that sucks. You can use the hour or so spent in your driveway with my fuel pump if you want
I had a similar thing happen when doing my traineeship years ago. I called the TAFE and asked them why I hadn't gotten some paperwork for my courses. They said they had lost all my course history. They asked me what courses I had already done so they could enter them back into the systemWell I may have just mentioned one or two non technical courses that I hadn't quite done yet
That cable is still in my garage too.
Like JohnE said. What the hell have they done mate?
Shorty.
Good to see the system working perfectly again. We had a member set to deceased on Friday. Member wasn't to pleased.
Help desk wasn't very impressed after telling the users it is all automatic when I corrected then and said I had been doing it manually as we don't get that info yet.
So let me know if you want to be dead on the system.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune BUT can you make my isuzu county quiet? Have tried just about everything, except selling it, which is fast becoming my last option. Oh, where abouts are you?
Cheers

About 2 years ago got I a record of subjects passed from TAFE for my Advanced Diploma of Business Management.
The record I got included my apprenticeship records from my time as a Fitter/Machinest, Toolmaker at REPCO.
My recolection of events is that I passed everything and got my trade certificate as evidenced by the aforementioned instrument.
Imagine my surprise when I got the record and discovered it showed me failing a subject 1st year, failing 2 subjects year 2

Failing prac year 3

and having a DNF for the trade certificate (which I lost whilst moving house in about 1990)
I guess its academic now as I never finished my time with indentures (as in never finished my 4th year) but irrespective thier records are BS.

I've have had other ppl that work for me and their tafe records are complete BS.
Cheers,
i suppose we have all guessed daves dilemna, which stevo seems to have had trouble with. i had somehting similar
Some years go, i was doing a lot of subbing for a mate i went to TAFE with, then started getting a fair bit of work on my own, so thought I would go and do some stuff on my own. ( back in the days of the Gold Card)
Couldn't find my trade certificate so went back to randwick tafe and asked for a copy, everything ws on microfilm, the results letter I got back was stated the course was incomplete, which really peeved me, it meant i had to do a practical assessment as opposed to a RPL. The funny part of it, was during the info night the Building services corp had run, myself and one other bloke were the only ones there out of 30 that had actual technical qualifications, the rest were self taught.
Another suggestion everyone can help with, why not post a list of competencies you need to achieve , that way no unrealistic requests will come your way.
just weather the storm mate, it'll sort itself out in the end.

The service at its best again, i remember twice not being paid and when investigated had found to be discharged, not once but twice this happened!!! i swear if they were a civil company they would be broke in no time. Have had some Good times but still they should raise the bar for the interlect level of allot of jobs, you need smart people in these trades not people that fail other courses. How hard is it for units to find good clerks? they should be paid on competancy standards.
Sorry to be a downer but had some bad experiences.
Cheers from the Desert
