    It happened in a flash.

Just to share the PAIN with you guys.

Away on the weekend and just picked the wrong line around a curve in the track. Before I knew what was happening I had climbed the side of the track.
    Some pictures ....

    Ouch

    more ouch

There was also a tree stump that helped re-arrange my front right guard and tore the fibreglass flare (sorry no pici's).

No one was hurt and I managed to limp home.

I ducked down to a 'pick a part' place that had a Rangie and managed to get two new trailing arms and a rear drive shaft. The trailing arm support bracket is good too so they are cutting out the chassis with the bit that I want later in the week. I assumed that it is not posssible to buy these mounts off the shelf (correct me if I'm wrong). On that note does anyone know of a stronger alternative?

    enjoy

For the mount or the trailng arm? trailing arm is easy, get a piece of 3mm thick pipe that slides over the trailng arm, cut it to length, drill a few holes in it, slide it on and fill with silicone to stop it moving around.
As for the mount, weld more braces on it?

I'll have the guy/people who's doing the bracket fix put a couple of extra braces on it somehow.

The 3mm tube sounds like a good idea.

The factory lower links fold up way too easily, we've done a few of them. For your setup you really need to go to HD ones like the 3rd's Productions or similar otherwise you will probably keep folding up more of them. This said, I've never seen one fold downwards before, all have been up. The tailshafts break because the when the axle comes under the car it levers up onto the tailshaft until either the axle stops or the tailshaft breaks - as you no doubt now already know. If you do get bent lower links, also make sure that they are gusseted otherwise they will still fold up also, irrespective of how strong the manufacturer claims they are.
    Cheers

I'll try and get some map co-ordinates and track names so you can find the hill for yourselves.

I think this is a link to the video that my daughter took from the back seat. It's not great quality and the event happens in the last 3 seconds. The file is about 10Meg.

    1. Yeah , okay, stuck.

    2. Ow, that's bent.

    3 HELL.

Bad one mate. Sucks. Got home okay, so that is the main thing.
    Bloody expensive weekend though.

About the only stronger thing I can think of, is to go to seamless steam\amonia pipe. Make new tie rods.
In order to manage the massive horse power and torque of steam turbines, ships prop shafts are tubular.
It actually has a far greater resistance to deflection than solid bar.
You could try to rework some large capacity motor cycle front fork tubes, bonus is you would have bling shiny chrome suspension components.

    Shorty.
