    yes. 6x6

    http://www.6x6australia.com.au/driveline.php

The device is capable of transmitting full drive torque from the intermediate differential to the rear differential, within a tiny fraction of a revolution, while being able to be driven on any type of surface in full time bogie drive, without the possibility of windup occurring.

Doesn't help if the breakover angle and ground clearance are inadequate!

I think it depends on what you want it for. For sheer load carrying capacity and maintaining offroad ability you couldn't go past that type of thing. It's probably now got a tray capacity of 1.5 to 3 T depending on the suspension design. I know from driving trucks with a lazy axle, they're absolutely hopeless for drive traction, even on the silliest things, so 6x6 would be excellent.

in defence of the Good Doctor who recently had the conversion done , he has purposely built his vehicle for long outback trips . he was only at Mt walker for basic driver training with his 6x6.
