It is still bucketting down here and I'm going away on the bike this weekend. Might seem silly to some, I have the best four wheel drive known, but I take a motorbike to the snow.

Another 19mm this morning - but I looked at a couple of my dams yesterday - no signs of the level rising. Also improving the drainage on the track near the house with a shovel yesterday - and it was bone dry three inches down. Won't be under the puddles though, of course.

When I was a kid in Walget it was flamin hot and dry for long periods and when the rain came everyone got excited. I moved further and further south as I grew up and never saw that excitement again until the last year or so. Now it doesn't seem to matter where we are, except Cairns, we get excited about it. Just an observation.
I came home from Sydney on Wednesday night and hit heavy rain between Bathurst & Orange it continued all night then was very patchy on Thursday but rained most of the night. It's great to see.
John, I'm glad you're getting some at Dubbo.

Went to town today - creek was about 18" deep on the way out. While I was in town there was another 42mm! Thought I was not going to get home, which was a bit of a bother as I had a load of frozen food, plus my medication and two hungry dogs were waiting at home. Eventually made my way home by an alternative route, with the next door neighbour acting as a pilot across the creek (in a Hilux)- water depth just over the top of the front mudguards on the 110. About as dep as I care to go without a snorkel, plus the current was enough to start dancing sideways.

This morning took the attached picture of the bridge into my place. Yesterday the river was about two metres below the bridge decking, and on Wednesday it was about six metres below it. I expect to be cut off for about a week, although there is an alternative route out.
