    Defender...going...going...gone!

2 Landies over 8 years. The second a TD5 Defender of 5 years. Sold the Fender last week for a new 07 Prado. Started having some "unusual" electrical probs with the Fender over the last few months eg. total black-outs (drove back to camp with a hand held spottie), a melting light switch the most recent. The real issue is I had lost my confidence in the beast. What if it went on the blink in the back blocks and not just on the beach one night on Straddie? Couldn't risk it (re: the family). Miss the beast already as well as discovering Prados owners don't wave back to me .

In general terms the Fender has copped all that I've thrown at it...and that's been a lot. One example - if you look on the back page of the current Overlander edition (Up The Creek comp) you'll see my predicament on the CSR last year. Did this contribute to my electrical issues...could well be. One thing for sure, the Prado will need to be "tricked up" pretty well to match the Fender off-road but that's my plan. Cheers guys.

    You fool

Enjoy the broken diffs, leaking HEVAC system, busted CVs... Electrical gremlins... And bending back diffs that are plaguing the Prados....

A simple fix would have solved your electrical issues....

Sorry to hear your leaving the fray.....

If he'd got a Patrol there would at least have been some respect. But a hairdressers truck, jees!

Is there any respect, really? A trade from Classic to Plastic? Yes a Plado is fairly capable, and has a better approach angle than a standard D2.

Personally I'd prefer a car that was built to perform instead of being made from melted down and recycled PET bottles

for the second time in one day..

some of the remarks are a bit pointed, unless of course you are really good mates...

you can get a point across without the name calling and bone pointing, surely...

all it needed by the sounds of it was a $35 relay or one of drivesafes headlight upgrade kits.

first thing i did to mine when i got it...
