The Mac Rac type racks will not fit as standard on a freelander because thye spare wheel hangs out the back too far. My rack would fit on the disco but not the freelander. There are additional bits you can buy that extend the tongue or the rack mounting bar but most cost nearly as much as the rack and may limit what you can tow.

I made up an extension - like a tow bar tongue for about $10 and it works well but you cannot tow with it. I intend to mount the rack on the back of the trailer or simply put the bikes in the trailer.

I have no experience with those racks that hang off the spare.

I would test any rack on the freeo before you buy it - just to make sure it will fit.
