What it takes to be a real Land Rover owner...Persistence and one very empty wallet, but having a ****ing good time in the process.
Owned 6 Rangies and been broke for all of them, but wouldn't change a thing. It's only money :confused::confused:
Trav
Missed an interesting night.
Other makes you own are there just to prove that they all can give you grief. A real Landy person is someone who loves their rig and didn't just buy it as it was the current fashion. Then again a Defender or series is a fashion all to it's own.
Barra1 might see you round at christmas. I will be staying in the area.
Actually the other makes are what you have to drive when picking up parts for your Land Rover. At least that is what I tell my wife her Corolla is for :p
Although if I planned ahead better it wouldn't be needed. It is just when you are halfway pulling something apart and find out you need something you haven't got :(
Simple, real Land Rovers in my eyes include Series, Defender (up to TD5). Disco and Range rover (built prior to BMW getting out the lettuce leaf, rubber mask and electric beater and going KINKY on a British marque resulting in the gang of Luft Woovers being built)
Ford based Rovers or Fuc Tovers still have all the adoptive luxuries of the Luft Woovers (or a mid 80's autobahn killer), and admitedly they still have quite a bit of the original capabilities of the true british offroader. However they're soft, supersized fat (sorry PHAT) plastic arsed cupholders. These mobile armchairs, pimped out drink warmer/coolers have all the bells, whistles but lack the one basic essential requirement that makes a cult icon, they lack character. This is something that the Americans have tried to replicate on many occation yet everytime failed miserably, a few perfect examples are Dr Phil, Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise.
What a load of cr@p, if ya ever in QLD, come for a drive in my D3 offroad and then make the same comment, Im yet to find one person in say my club who thinks that, in my case, that the D3 resembles any of that diatribe. Highly offended D3 and LR owner :angrylock:Quote:
