with regards to the bulge, looking from the drivers seat (because that's where i was sitting, today, while driving it, by myself) you can hardly notice it. being such a short bonnet, and the driving position being so high, with the angle of view over the bonnet, it tends to follow a natural curve away from the driver's (that was me) eyes.

Yours looks better maybe because yours has all the fruit on it and the new one well just looks plain.

actually, looking at the photo, i know what you mean. too much silver and the clear parker and blinker lens combo doesn't help.
for those Dr Who fans, it looks a bit like when the cybermen meet the transformers.
