Looks Great, But I wish Land Rover would learn to put wider wheels on Defenders. Its more pleasing to the eye and would certainly improve its on and off road performance

    hi all
we are in the uk visiting the old's so took a chnace to see the new defender.
In sheffield we had a good look at a HT90 as that was the only one they had, was told no 110 availible until august as they are special order only.
we then had a look at the local dealer in portsmouth, we were shoked to find almost the full range sat on there sales court, all were for shb a local hire firm so it was window peering only, still think teh 110 hcpu is the best of the bunch.
inside the sale man was very helpfull up untill we tried to get a test drive, but his only avalibale test car was out for the month.
the 110 csw looked just like any other landrover, the optional rear seats (thrid row) looked comfortable but seemed to take up a lot of room in the back.
upfront it felt comfortable in a defender sit up straight way, teh gearstick (to me) felt a little bit of a streach but i think once out on teh road would not be a problem.
teh interior trim was typical defender very plastic and bit unsecure, so its still got its charcter.
i liked the dash, seems a nice improment on our 90.
the engine bay looks a bit crowded but hey its a transit engine and it will never break so who will ever know.
personally i quite like teh bonnet buldge and can not say i even noticed it when sat in the car.
i think the uk spec will be a lot less than we will get in OZ teh csw we sat in the centre cubby box, air con and abs/traction control and rear seats were all options. they gave me aprice list if you want to be scared.
now just can not wait for them to start comimng to OZ with final price so i can ask the bank manager to let me have one.

    regards all
    ian (muddymech)

ps the defender sticker now has flash undeath it so well worth the upgrade
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

I love the whole package. It looks great. The silver really works.
I don't know that wider tyres are better off road but it should have off road tyres. That always amazes me, the ultimate out of the box off roader with highway tyres!!
