It's surprising how many people are that slow to check. Wait a bit longer but also write it off as a no win.
A few days ago I placed the highest bid on a car on ebay but was unsuccessful due to the reserve not being met. I have sent two e-mails to the seller indicating that I was the highest bidder and seeking to possibly negotiate a purchase price. While I certainly accept a purchase may not be able to be negotiated, the seller has not responded to my e-mails - he surely would have checked to see if his item sold and would certainly have recieved my first e-mail.
Am I being unresaonable in expecting at least some sort of response within a few days and being the highest bidder, at least have first refusal on the car.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
Garry

He/she could have shot through for a few days, so don't break out in a cold sweat just yet, Gazz.![]()
You're being reasonable, but as above it might just take time.
A lot of people, though, don't know auctions - hopefully the seller isn't among the ignorant (however you interpret "ignorant.")
I hope it turns out well for you.

Well, I reckon that if someone puts an item for sale on eBay and doesn't respond to emails then they are ignorant ar$eholes, if they cant be bothered checking their listings and replying to valid, relevant queries from someone that wants to give them money, then they shouldn't list IMHO, Regards Frank.
I've heard of people using ebay to find buyers and then negotiation with them afterwards as their strategy. So to not respond suprises me.
Maybe he doesn't really want to sell it. He's now saying to the wife ... sorry dear didn't get close. We'll have to keep it.![]()

Ebay messages are notoriously problematic. For some reason I don't receive any Ebay messages to my email account. If I want to see them I have to check via Ebay messages page.
From my experience selling stuff this must happen a lot. If you have a previous message try the sellers direct email address. I don't know if Ebay will give you their contact details as highest-but-not-winning bidder. As winning bidder it isn't hard to request full contact details.
Cheers
Simon
No mate you are being reasonable, but as the others said some people can be really slow to check, and quite often many people who list on ebay arent all that computer savy. Give it a few days, maybe even a week. Its a pain i know but if they really want to sell the car they will contact you. Matt

Maybe it got sold elsewhere and he doesn't want to tell?![]()
Seems to me the polite thing to do would be to reply in some way though.....
