Fluid driven gauges are only illegal if fitted on top of the dash or on the bonnet edge. Either inside or out will spray onto the bonnet. In dash fitments are not a problem. Qld only, AFAIK and you would have to be very unlucky to get chipped on it. Most probably by Qld transport inspectors.

Yeha, i cant imagine most cops knowing or even bothering to check, but id be ****ed if i had to buy new ones because the police officer at the time was disgruntled.
Besides, electric ones are my choice for other reasons also. Replaceable senders, easier to fit/run, etc.....
