I think you will find the existing latch is already steel.
Hey everyone iam going to put a lockable latch on the lid of the battery box on the Defender so i can put valuables in there. would there be any problem using a steel latch and steel bolts ?? (Because isnt the battery box aluminium ??) or may it corrode or get electrolysis ?? would i have to put something between the latch and the battey box ?? what i be better to Use rivets ??

oh ok sorry i havent had a chance to check it yet. so there wouldnt be any problem ? i wasnt sure what causes electrolysis. would rivets be the best way to mount it ??
