I reckon this is as dodgy as
Short listing so ebay don't have time to pull it off, miles from no where so you have to pay by bank deposit or paypal.
Good luck if you get your locker

    What's that old saying?

    When in doubt, don't.....

However, offer to pick it up, get a name, address and a phone number, that should sort out the sheep from the goats.

Normally, alarm bells would be ringing based on low feedback, membership length, previous low value transactions, etc., BUT he's offering pick-up where you'd pay cash, which is risky if it isn't genuine.

If it wasn't so far from Perth I'd grab them for you or buy them myself if you weren't going to, but I wouldn't do a bank transfer and risk him posting.

Looking at his other gear it's probably warm, however if I had my tax cheque, that would be on the way to my place........................

The problem with Ebay isn't so much 'warm' gear being sold, as non-existent stuff being advertised. You pay for it and then they do a runner with your money and you never get anything.

As this particular seller is so new to Ebay and has a low feedback the Ebay protection scheme does not apply to the stuff they are selling which makes it risky.

As pointed out though, they're offering payment on pick up, so could be a genuine seller or maybe this is to make you think that the stuff *must* exist - part of the scam maybe?

Hmm, Jim Congdon might have some contacts up there. Me, too. Some of the blokes I worked with at Carnarvon Satellite Earth Station are still there.

.... but which ones. Jim might know.

(Jim and I worked for OTC/Telstra).
