call me a heathen, but i'd love an extra road friendly defender to match with my extra rustic off road unit. I'm not particular about 20 inch rims, but I'm sure the missus and I would enjoy a pimp my ride style project vehicle for street use![]()
Yes, each to their own too. The Rangie I bought was painted a metalic gold colour (as seen on my avatar). It also has very dark timted windows, so I recon the previous owner was considering blinging her up. But, judging by the amount of mud I scraped off underneath, maybe not. At the end of the day, people spend on what they want. Heck I preser to see hundreds of blinged out 4x4 rather than people spending their $$ on drugs or gambling.

I agree..everybody is differentIMHO I shake my head at people like yourself who spend a furtune on thier rigs to go on club outings looking for mud holes to trash them in. Without a purpose I don't see the reason, but others like yourslef would disagree.
My point is that the guy with a pimp 4wd gets the same satisfaction with everyone at the traffic lights looking at him, as you do of 10 guys on a hill taking shots of your rig in a mud hole that you could have driven around
Personally I have a 4wd to get to places I need to get to on a daily basis, and for touring. But I don't begrudge the million other reasons people buy thier rig for.
My dad has always owned 4x4's all his life as hes a farmer and always needs 4x4's. He thinks I'm mad spending money on my rangie to go out finding tracks and breaking things.
I justify it as a hobby..its fun

If I had deeper pockets the first thing I would do is have a defender in the drive way for off road and buy a Range Rover Sport and pimp it for around town.
Then half of you guys here would not speak to me.
Each to their own I guess.
Each to their own for sure BUT....
Most of the rim and tyre packages sold to these drongo's are not rated for the loads the vehical is capable of.
So that when they load it up with him and his trophy GF and the 2 1/2 tonnes of gear and the $50000 ski boat, they crack and fall off.
But they look good NOT.
On top of that, the tyres are not usually rated for 2 tonnes of truck on top of them, as with the standard 240 ltr tank in the Plado makes my mums coopers balloon out with 50 psi in them when it's full so how will 6 ply rubber bands hold up?
Even when rim and tyre combo's are factory fitted, it could lower the max capacities that the vehical can carry.
This can lessen tyre life or make the vehical dangerous.
These vehicals have been built for a purpose and should be maintained to keep them able to serve that purpose, putting huge rims and rubber band tyres to change how they handle and brake, change axial loadings and carrying capacities.
On top of all this, it makes them look like a moron.
If your vehical is fitted with these things from the factory, so be it, if you want to put bling wheels and tyres on, do your homework and see how hard it is to keep it all legal.
Im not saying it cant be done legaly but it is expensive and both rims and tyres to handle the load ratings of 4wds are hard to find.

Ok If thats judging them I will withdraw that and say It makes me think they look like a Moron.
Thats just my humble opinion
My point is based on the legalities and safety of such mods and if someone doesnt think that these points are important welllllllllllllll....what am I to say.
I have also seen a said Plado, Blk 20" rims, I parked next to it at a pub one night, I didnt think to check what the load rating on his tyres were though lol.
